This wonderful family heirloom has been through 4 generations. There are many replicas and reproductions on the market BUT THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. Marked clearly with an opaque red glaze on the bottom side indicating (read right to left - up and down) that this jem was made during the Great Qing Dynasty - Tongzhi period made. 6 characters together. There is also a 7th character to the bottom left of which I am unsure of. I've been told maybe a date indicator (no, its not 78) or the makers initial/mark? I am not an expert but have had expert correspondence and guidance on researching & pricing this piece. The piece measures roughly 10 inches in diameter. There are signs of age/paint wear/bottom rim scuffing but no chips, dings, cracks or repairs. The outter plate edge is gold. As far as the imagery, it displays a swallow or phoenix, tree branches, cherry blossoms, and other interesting symbolic artistry. less
